Leaving your house over Easter
Thursday, 05 November 2009 00:00

Things you should remember when you leave your house empty over Easter:
- Make sure all rubbish is removed from the house into the bins ready for collection.
- Leave the heating on a timer so it comes on for a couple of hours in the day. This is to avoid burst pipes. If you prefer you can alternatively turn off the water from the mains (contact your landlord to ask the position of the stop cock if you can not find it).
- Put lights on a timer so it appears someone is still living there.
- Check all electric and gas appliances are turned off.
- Make sure you use all locks on exterior doors.
- If you have an alarm please put use it.
- If break-ins occur due to negligence you will be billed for the repairs as this and your belongings
cannot be claimed back by insurance
