Magical Moments To Enjoy In Leeds this Christmas

 8th December 2022

Christmas in Leeds? If it’s not your first thought, we’re betting it will be when we tell you about everything that you can do this Christmas in Leeds.

Let’s start with the Ice Cube - a family-friendly fun fest in the Millennium Square, with an ice rink, a ski bar with gondolas, chairlifts, skis and a huge ski bear (we’re not sure either, but it sounds cool!) The Ice Cube is open from 25 November (closed Christmas and Boxing Days) through to New Year’s Eve.

Leeds Playhouse has the best Christmas show ever: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! The Roald Dahl favourite takes to the stage 18 November to 28 January, and is guaranteed to be an absolute winner for all the family.

If you really want to get cosy this Christmas in Leeds, nothing could be snugger than a whole winter village serving street food along with entertainment. The Temple Arches will be home to Chow Down for eight weeks beginning on 10 November. Expect fire pits, outdoor heaters, festive fare, street entertainment, mulled wine, comedy nights, craft beers and even a Christmas dog social.

And if you are made of sterner stuff, wrap up warmly and enjoy the Christmas Light Trail at Roundhay Park, starting 8 December until 1 January. The event is organised in conjunction with Sony Music and offers music and light experiences including a fire garden and wicker sculptures. Take a flask of hot chocolate and enjoy Leeds outdoors.

Finally, for the ultimate cosy Christmas experience, Lotherton Hall offers a chance to try out an Edwardian festive season, with a walk through the woods and the chance to find installations like a giant Christmas card in which you can pose for a selfie, as well as workshops led by elves!
